About project

The general aim of the project is the promotion and stimulation of the excellence in teaching, research and dissemination activities on topics concerning the European integration. The estimated impact of the project refers to the multidisciplinary knowledge on the European integration process; developing competences of understanding and analysis of the European environment; promoting the European integration courses in curricula and specialization programmes which are not associated with fields that usually include European topics; increasing the training component of the university and the training courses portfolio; support the training of specialists in the field of accessing structural and cohesion funds; developing didactic competences of the teaching staff included in the project, by stimulating the interest of creating new courses, new contents, new methodologies; enhancing the university performances in the European studies research; increasing the degree of relating university programmes /activities in the field of European studies to the needs of the civil society; growing the visibility of didactic resources and results, of research at the local, regional, national and international level; developing partnerships with other universities and cross-border cooperation.

The main results/outputs of the project are: the realization of 7 courses (new and existing), 4 research activities, 2 books, 1 international conference in each year of funding, 18 lecture series, 1 contest of essays, the participation at international conferences and the publishing of the research results, the editing of conference proceedings, the elaboration of some brochures.

The general aim of the project is the promotion of the didactic and research excellence in European studies, as well as the promotion of debate by topics concerning the European integration, through the following specific objectives:

1. Support the stability of certain courses existing in the CES curricula by increasing attractiveness and adaptability to the students needs for training and the formative and training role of learning courses through new approaches / perspectives provided by content and method; 2.     Open to students from fields of specialization which do not normally have included in their curricula courses on the European integration (Geography, Medicine) and to universities previously not included in Jean Monnet Action (Free International University of Moldova, Apollonia University of Iasi and The University of Medicine and Pharmacy Grigore T. Popa of Iasi);

3. Stimulate the multidisciplinary research in the field of European integration on the main interest topics: sustainable development, regional development and convergence, The European Neighbourhood Policy and EU Eastern Neighbourhood, dynamics in the countries from Central and Eastern Europe after the integration in the European Union (in this respect, specialized collaborators in the specified topics have been associated in the project);

4. The valorization, development of competences and increasing the visibility of resources and the didactic and research results of the university at local, regional and international level. The project suggests in this respect participating in conferences, organizing events, making publications largely disseminated at a regional, national and international level, including the civil society groups. For the same purpose the project includes young specialists for the development of their didactic and research competences, of the event organizing competences and stimulation of debate on European matters;

5. Stimulate public and academic debate on interest topics in the European Union to increase the degree of information and comprehension in the academic environment and at the level of the civil society under these circumstances, challenges for the European governance system and the European Union strategic perspectives; support continuity in making courses, organizing events, debates, seminars for the academic environment and the civil society, actions in which the Centre for European Studies (CES) has been involved for over 10 years;

6. Openness to civil society groups. The project involves actions that will be open to participation for the public, but two interest groups were aimed at through specific actions: a. Young people to understand the integration process, stimulate the feeling of belonging to the European area, increase the degree of understanding opportunities, but also responsibility as European citizens; b. Specialists from the public and private business environment, from public institutions and non-governmental organizations interested in developing professional competences through the system of longlife learning in the field of accessing and implementing the structural and cohesion funds (relatively new competences required by the labour market, interested in supporting the regional development processes and reducing discrepancies);

7. Stimulate cooperation with the academic environment form the Eastern neighbourhood (the project involves a compulsory course, the organization of an event and publishing books as a result of research in cooperation with professors from the Republic of Moldova and from the Free International University, Chisinau).
