ResEast project

ResEast is a research initiative examining democratic resilience and institutional transformation at the European Union’s eastern borders, with a focus on Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The project explores how democratic systems adapt to internal vulnerabilities and external pressures in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment shaped by EU enlargement dynamics, regional crises, and shifting global power structures. By combining interdisciplinary analysis with systemic and forward-looking methodologies, ResEast aims to generate new knowledge on how democratic institutions, societies, and governance structures can sustain and renew themselves over time. The project seeks to contribute to academic debate, evidence-based policymaking, and public understanding of democracy’s evolving challenges and opportunities at Europe’s eastern frontier.
